Information
After four acclaimed albums, international hits and worldwide tours, Dotan has returned to creating new music. And yet, it feels as if his journey is only just beginning. In 2025, the Dutch singer-songwriter has finally released the idea of who and where he thought he had to be. He has learned to embrace both the light and the dark within himself - and everything in between. His music now carries it all, because he embodies it all. By daring to face every side of himself, his vision has never been clearer. He wants to play, to tell stories and to connect - to experience the magic that music can spark between people. His new work is as an unfiltered portrait of where he stands in life, both as an artist and as a man. Dotan: "It will be my fifth album, but it feels more like a second debut." Dotan first made his mark in 2011 with his album Dream Parade, recorded in Los Angeles - a city that would remain a wellspring of inspiration throughout his career. Three years later he released 7 Layers, featuring his global breakthrough hit Home. It cemented his place in music: Dotan toured extensively in the Netherlands and sold out Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome in 2016. 7 Layers also took him far beyond home soil, with tours across Europe and the U.S., and headline appearances at Pinkpop (NL), Rock Werchter (BE), Sziget (HU), Pukkelpop (BE), Southside Hurricane Festival (GER) and Montreux Jazz (CH). Twice, he performed at the Vatican for the Pope. Since 2014, Dotan's music has featured in international commercials, films and hit series including Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, The 100, New Amsterdam and the Netflix film True Spirit. The story of Home is still being written: in 2024, ten years after its release, the track climbed to number one on the Canadian charts. Following a period of reflection, Dotan returned with the single Numb in 2019 and the album Satellites in 2021. With the release of his fourth album A Little Light In The Dark in 2024, he reaffirmed his standing on the international scene. Over the past year he toured across Europe, from intimate theaters to major venues. On stage, a realization grew stronger: this is how he had always imagined it. The stage as sanctuary, a refuge from the intensity of the outside world, where people, including himself, can simply be who they are. "For the first time, I allow myself to be proud of the things I do and create. Proud of the idea that my music touches people and brings them together. At the same time, I realize my self-worth no longer depends on anyone's approval. By navigating fully on my own compass, I stay much closer to myself. And in the writing, I feel freer than ever." In October 2025, Dotan embarks on the final leg of his A Bigger Light In The Dark Tour, with shows in Belgium, Germany and Italy. On Saturday, October 18, he will close with a sold-out performance at AFAS Live in Amsterdam. Just before that, he will release the single that signals the start of a new chapter: Last Goodbyes - a song about holding on to the memories of someone or something that shaped your life. On Last Goodbyes, Dotan blends heartfelt lyrics with acoustic textures and soaring melodies, creating a sound that's both intimate and anthemic. Subtle folk influences add warmth and honesty. Dotan: "Last Goodbyes comes out as my current tour comes to an end. It's the bridge between two essential phases of my life. I'm excited to turn the page and discover where the next chapter will take me. I've always believed in the power of music. Every time I release a song, it travels into the world. And I follow in its wake." Last Goodbyes is set for worldwide release through Sony Music Entertainment on October 10.
